Music Mondays is a feature I started on my book blog, Ramblings of a Daydreamer. I'm a music fanatic, and because music inspires my writing, I thought I'd carry the meme over here and share certain songs and their meanings as they relate to my writing.
One and Only by Adele is a song I listened to over and over while writing The Game Changer. I actually discovered it around the time I started writing the book, and I had it on repeat endlessly. It's such a beautiful song, and I connected with it for Melody and Julian. Julian was a player, and although he and Melody agreed to be friends - just friends - she found herself developing feelings for him. She didn't want to - she was sure things couldn't work between them - but she just couldn't help herself. I can imagine Mel sitting at home alone and listening to this song on replay, thinking of Julian and wishing things could be different.
There's no official video for this song, only lyrics videos and live versions, so this is just the song itself
"You've been on my mind
I grow fonder every day,
Lose myself in time
Just thinking of your face
God only knows
Why it's taken me so long
To let my doubts go
You're the only one that I want
I don't know why I'm scared, I've been here before
Every feeling, every word, I've imagined it all,
You never know if you never try
To forgive your past and simply be mine
I dare you to let me be your, your one and only
Promise I'm worthy to hold in your arms
So come on and give me a chance
To prove that I'm the one who can
Walk that mile until the end starts"
~One and Only - Adele~
Coming November 2012!
Melody Cartwright has never had a problem with change, but for the first time in her life the changes are beyond her control—she suddenly has a niece she never knew, but has to prove herself to; her best friend is making huge life changes of her own; and she has to deal with her ex and his crazy new girlfriend who has stalker tendencies. When Melody meets confident, sexy Julian, she’s not interested in a relationship. He tells her it’s possible for a man and a woman to just be friends, and despite his ultra-charming ways there’s something about him that makes Melody believe he could be right. During a time of change and turmoil, it doesn’t take long for Julian to become everything Melody never knew she needed in her life. But is it possible for them to remain ‘just friends’ or will Melody be a game changer for Julian the playboy?
